Child Haus
The Center for Health Improvement and Life Development or C.H.I.L.D. Haus is the first and only temporary home for indigent children with cancer in the country. Through the initiative of the Ricky Reyes Foundation, CHILD Haus was established and inaugurated on October 28, 2003 running with the principles of supportive and palliative care as well as promoting holistic healing through different activities and services. Some of the activities and services offered here include Children’s Hour where the kids can play, have therapy arts and crafts, story telling sessions and many others.
With their mission to provide a temporary home to cancer patients from various provinces while they are undergoing treatment medical evaluation in government hospitals, CHILD Haus has continued to provide home for these patients for over 15 years in their two locations, one of which is found at Agoncillo St, Ermita, Manila, a block away from the Philippine General Hospital.
CHILD Haus Manila was built and developed by Henry Sy as a tribute to his father, Henry Sy Sr. It was inaugurated on November 29, 2015. The seven-story building was able to house many patients that are getting their treatment in PGH and other public hospitals.
In line with the institution’s mission, The Hope Project has been providing psychosocial support to the children in CHILD Haus through various activities. One of which is the hospital visits where the members of the organization play with the kids. THP has also organized programs such as Sail into Hope: A Celebrate Life Party for the kids to interact and have fun with their family, friends, as well as the members of the organization.
